E.J. Prescott: Westbrook, Maine

A water infrastructure installation for Portland Water in Westbrook, Maine, featured a Strongbridge-Tega 24-inch IPS HDPE electrofusion coupler as part of a connection to an existing 30-inch prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) line.

A Strongbridge 240V electrofusion processor supported the electrofusion installation. Designed for field use with Strongbridge-Tega electrofusion fittings, the processor provides the controlled fusion cycle required to complete electrofusion connections.

Large-diameter electrofusion connections require careful pipe preparation, alignment, and fusion procedures to support consistent, reliable connections in the field. This installation demonstrates how electrofusion fittings and equipment can work together when integrating HDPE components with existing large-diameter water infrastructure.
