TRAINING OVERVIEW

Our comprehensive training program offers four levels of instruction on Strongbridge-Tega couplers, branch saddles (for both small and large diameters), tapping tees, and flex restraints.

A certified Strongbridge electrofusion instructor leads all training sessions and can be conducted either at our Strongbridge International facility in Jacksonville, Florida, or directly at your location** for convenience.

For more information please contact your regional sales manager.

Level One Course

Level 1 (L-1) Provides electrofusion training and certification on the installation of couplers up to 12", saddle outlets up to 4", and tapping tees up to 2”. Whether you're new to electrofusion or need recertification, this course is designed to equip you with the essential skills you need for successful installations in both standard and complex projects.

Level Two Course

Level 2 (L-2) Provides electrofusion training and certification on the installation of large-diameter couplers in 14” – 30”, saddle outlets in 6” – 10”, and flex restraints. This L-2 course will help you advance your skills. You will build on your practical knowledge to successfully fuse large-diameter applications.

Level Three Course

Level 3 (L-3) Provides electrofusion training and certification on the installation of large-diameter couplers in 32” and larger, along with flex restraints. This L-3 training will help you master advanced skills and techniques for challenging projects. You must have at least 5 years of experience, with current certification and electrofusion as part of your everyday scope of work.

Level Four Course

Level 4 (L-4) Provides electrofusion training and certification on the installation of branch saddles with outlets 12” and larger. This L-4 course will help you lead large-scale projects and navigate complex installation scenarios. You must have at least 5 years of experience, with current certification and electrofusion as part of your everyday scope of work.

Additional Notes

Reading and fully understanding all instructions is important before attempting any electrofusion work. Permanent field installations should only be undertaken by operators who have completed an electrofusion training course, which includes classroom and hands-on installation training, offered by a Strongbridge International, LLC (“Strongbridge”) authorized instructor knowledgeable in polyethylene electrofusion installation procedures. The training program must include, as part of the curriculum, the operator successfully making an electrofusion connection that passes pressure testing per ASTM F2164 (Standard Practice for Field Leak Testing of Polyethylene Pressure Piping Systems Using Hydrostatic Pressure) and destructive testing under U.S. D.O.T. 192.283.

For Level 3 (L-3) and Level 4 (L-4) training, advanced fusion techs must have at least five (5) years’ experience as certified fusion technicians and must be currently certified, with electrofusion as part of their everyday scope of work.

**L-3 and L-4 training is only conducted in Jacksonville, FL, in our taining facility. Any course selection that includes L-3 or L-4—such as a combined Level 2 and Level 3 program—must also be held at our Jacksonville facility.
